Tamonji Temple is located in the center of Japan, at the foot of the peaks that extend from the sacred Mount Tsurugi.
Tamonji Temple began as the birthplace of mountain Buddhism, when Bishamonten was enshrined here to protect the people.
It is said to have been founded by the young Kukai about 1,200 years ago.
Based on the teachings of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, we hope to pass these teachings on to future generations.
We will continue to practice so that everyone can receive the blessings of Bishamonten.

The Yuyudo Hall of the Double-Body Bishamonten The Yuyudo Hall, which is the inner sanctuary of Tamonji Temple, enshrines the double-body Bishamonten.
Every morning, prayers are offered through the oil bathing ritual, which is said to be the most secret technique in esoteric Buddhism.
